What did you do before you came to Newcastle?

I was working for ministry of tourism in Oman in the IT department as e-tourism head section.

Why did you choose Newcastle University?

Newcastle University is ranked among the top 30 good universities in the UK according to the TIMES GOOD UNIVERSITY GUIDE. Additionally, I was captured by the prompt reply and smooth application process.

What did you like the most about your degree?

I found the environment stimulating and the tutors were very supportive.

Were the knowledge and skills gained useful when looking for a job?

Although I already have a job, I was facing the problem of the lack of the business perspective being with IT background only. Thus, the knowledge and skills gained helped me to bridge this gap as the modules delivered covered both perspectives. Additionally, other skills were gained such as team working, time management, and communication skills.

What do you do now? How's that relevant to your EBIS degree?

Now I am perusing my PhD at Newcastle University, my research focuses on electronic tourism in Oman. The knowledge gained from the EBIS degree led me to wonder about the potential that e-business will have on the Tourism sector on my country. Stemmed from this I decide to peruse my PhD in this area.

Would you recommend Newcastle (the city) to your friends?

Newcastle for me was the best choice as it is a lovely city and not to mention that it is a cheaper and safer place compared to other cities in the UK. I would definitely recommend Newcastle to my friends.
