Government accelerates Omanisation process

MUSCAT : The Oman Government continues its journey on the mission of securing more jobs for the Omani youths. Now the Ministry of Manpower, which deals with human resources development activities of the country, has chalked out a comprehensive plan to put unemployed Omani youths back into career path. 

A four-pronged Omanisation programmes has begun to put in place to eradicate the specter of unemployment and to replace the foreign labours. Employ the professionally qualified job-seekers by referring them to the available job openings in the private sectors, train the new professionally qualified job-seekers, give a second chance for previously employed jobless youngsters and provide entrepreneurial opportunities for the professionals and craftsmen are the strategies currently in place. Entrepreneurs will get a financial aid of upto RO 50,000 through Sanad offices to start their own ventures. 

The ministry will open employment services at general directorates in various wilayats and governorates. Ministry will build new offices to deal with job seekers. This will be in addition to the establishment of centres of employment services at Muscat International Airport and a number of commercial centres, technical colleges and vocational training centres.Ministry also decided to open employment offices in other Arab Gulf states of Gulf Co-operation Council.

The joint work office has already established in Qatar in 2003 and another office in the UAE in Dubai in 2005.Providing career guidance services for job seekers to help them choose a profession that suits their abilities and desires, by preparing manuals and live video programmes.

Ministry has also planned to build a new data base of labour market, by collecting information about private enterprises also. This data base will hold all info about private enterprises viz. their activities and staff (Omanis and expatriates), professional qualification of the staff and all. This data will be used to facilitate Omanisation in the private sector also.

MAHSA Malaysia enters UAE
