Manama: Bahrain's commitment for safeguarding quality in higher education continues with its busy preparations for the second two day-long International Arab Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IACQA 2012) which will be held on 4 and 5 April at Sanad Campus.
While speaking to press to announce the details of the meeting, Dr. Mona Al Zayani, conference chairwoman and University President, said: "There will be 161 researchers from 61 countries taking part in this key conference, who will submit 106 papers".
Hunderds of educational experts are expected to attend an international conference in Bahrain next month. The International Arab Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IACQA 2012) is a forum for scientists, researchers, and experts to present their latest research, results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of quality assurance in higher education.
It is being organised by Gulf University."It is important to have quality assurance in educational institutions for sustainable development," Dr. Monah Al Zayani said. "Mushrooming of different universities is a good sign for students, but it becomes imperative that education is up to international standards," she added.
She said the entire conference aims to put Bahrain in the forefront as the "education hub" in the region.
Key speakers include Dr Raed Shadfan from the Petra University, Jordan, and Dr Keiichi Nakata from the University of Reading, the UK.
The wave of Arab spring has inspired Arab countries to widen their perspectives on higher education. More employable and quality-oriented higher education is the only way forward to bring the youth force into the main stream of the society. So it is hoped that the Bahrain conference would result in some fundamental platform for a stable, prosperous and peaceful future journey.
