Muscat: The US Embassy to Oman lately honoured participants of their e-teacher course including 10 Omanis. During the ceremony, US Ambassador to Oman H.E. Richard J. Schmierer congratulated the e-teachers for their participation in the programme.
"We are happy to provide Omani teachers this opportunity to further train themselves as part of the partnership between the US and the Sultanate"- by distributing the certificate, he said. E-teacher course which improves English language proficiency was mainly focusing on non-native English speakers. Public affairs officer patricia Atkinson also welcomed the teachers and highlighted the significance of the programme in developing English language teaching all over the world.
Currently e-teacher programme offers seven online graduate-level courses. These courses are prepared mainly for the English language teachers living outside the US to give new insights on English language. Courses are offered by the University of Maryland and the University of Oregon.
The e-teacher team currently concluded their programme includes 10 Omani teachers. The event included a presentation on the scholarship programme, followed by presentations on using online course platform, the US state Department alumni website, and research methods and materials offered through the embassy's information resource centre.
