GU Tech prof award in Germany

Professor Burkhard Rauhut, currently rector of the GermanUniversity of Technology, Oman (GU Tech), has been awarded the Theodor Berchem Prize in Germany. The recipient of the award was chosen by an international jury. The award is worth around 5,000 OR.

Professor Rauhut has been rector of GU Tech since 2008. The honour was bestowed on him for his international and intercultural work and his achievements in the academic sphere. 

The Theodore Berchem Prize bears the name of Prof. Theodor Berchem, the long-standing President of the German Academic Exchange Service(DAAD). With this prize the DAAD seeks to honour academic personalities who have been outstanding models for international and intercultural dimension of higher education in an outstanding manner- this include bringing together students, scientists, scholars and academic cultures across the world. 

According to a DAAD statement, Professor Rauhut has promoted the Internationalisation of RWTH Aachen University. He was the former rector of RWTH Aachen University. Moreover, Professor Rauhut is the co-founder of the consortium for international university marketing called 'GATE Germany'. 

He has actively promoted the development of international marketing of German Universities, including setting up of the German University of Technology in Oman in 2007. 

The Theordor Berchem Prize was awarded for the first time in 2011 and will be announced every two years.

Osmania University degrees "blacklisted" by recruiters in Gulf

Osmani University HYDERABAD: If you are a graduate from Osmania University(OU) , India, you may receive a blunt rejection from the HR manager of Gulf countries. Shocking news is out that Osmania University distance education and regular degrees have been blacklisted in several middle-east countries including Iran and UAE.  But Higher Education authorities of these countries have not made any official announcements in this regard.
