CASS BUSINESS SCHOOL, LONDON |
Cass Business School, part of City University London, has launched a new MSc in Global Supply Chain Management.
The one-year programme, starting in September 2014, will equip students with theoretical and practical supply chain knowledge as well as professional and personal skills.
Unlike other programmes of its kind, the course focuses on developing students’ analytical and consulting skills, as well as their understanding of supply chain and operations management.
Course director for the MSc in Global Supply Chain Management, Dr Byung-Gak Son of Cass Business School, said:
“Consulting skills are highly valued across a range of sectors, especially in the banking industry where there is a growing demand for supply chain finance specialists.
“While many courses focus on supply chain operations, this course aims to develop graduates with strong strategic supply chain knowledge as well as advanced analytical and consulting skills.
“Graduates of this programme will be well positioned for a career in the management consulting industry, which employs more than 80,000 consultants in the UK alone.”
Among the topics covered are strategic supply chain, operations management, global procurement, business sustainability and accounting and finance.
Modules offered on the course include supply chain analysis, international finance, research design, quantitative business analysis and consulting skills for Global Supply Chain Management.
“To help students develop specialist skills in consulting, the course exposes them to the tools and techniques they need to analyse empirical data and draw reliable conclusions,” Dr Son added. “It also encourages them to develop the project management, communication and presentation skills required to deliver consultancy projects.”
The course will rely on interactive teaching methods, lab-based sessions and case studies to help students understand the complexities of managing global supply chains. Students will learn to apply their knowledge to real life problems faced by companies.
The design and content of the course reflects the needs of the marketplace and the research activity of Cass’s world-renowned faculty.
Graduates are expected to apply for a variety of roles in procurement management, supply chain consultancy or specialist finance positions in the banking and insurance sectors.
Applications for the first cohort of students are now open. For more information, visit www.cass.city.ac.uk/msc-supply-chain
