Sharjah: American University of Sharjah (AUS) School of Business and Management was recently ranked among the top 100 programs worldwide for its information systems research(ISR) productivity.
The Association for Information Systems, the authority which tracks the information systems research(ISR) productivity, has chosen American University of Sharjah (AUS) at 69th rank. The Association for Information Systems considers the number of scholarly articles published in eight of the leading information systems journals over a three-year period and a five-year period.
“This achievement reflects the hard work of the faculty members of the AUS, and we congratulate them for their success and for their contributions to the literature. Their successes certainly benefit AUS and our students,” said Dr. Malcolm Richards, Dean of the School of Business and Management.
For the period 2009–2011, AUS ranked 69th in the world in terms of the number of publications in the top four research journals in Information Systems. These four journals are Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Management Information System and Management Information Systems Quarterly and Information Systems Research respectively.
AUS maintained the same ranking over the same period when the list of journals extended from four to the top six. Two additional journals were Information Systems Journal and European Journal of Information Systems.
The university ranked 67th when considering all eight journals inclucing Journal of Information Technology andJournal of Strategic Information Systems. Contributing to these rankings were articles published by four members of the Department of Management Information Systems at AUS: Prof. Dr. Narasimhaiah Gorla, Asst. Prof. Ananth Chiravuri, Asst. Prof. Jeff Baker and Sameh Al-Natour, Instructor.
“These researchers can rightly be very proud of what they have achieved,” said Dr. Charles Ernest Love, Head of the Department of Management Information Systems. “To make it into the top 100 is no small feat in an arena dominated by major US and international schools and is a reflection of the success here at American University of Sharjah in assembling top talent.”
