Shiv Nadar University raises scholarships to 34%

UP, (India): Shiv Nadar University has decided to increase scholarship funds for the forthcoming academic year by 34 per cent to 31 crore.

Scholarships at SNU cover full or partial educational and living expenses for the entire duration of the four-year programme. Nikhil Sinha, founding vice-chancellor, SNU, said, “The significant increase in our scholarship fund reflects our continued commitment to support the education of deserving students even as we expand the number of degree programmes and the size of the incoming class.”

For a four-year engineering course, the university charges 12 lakh, but the biggest scholarship will bring it down to 3.5 lakh. The institute also runs research programmes for the post-graduate and Ph.D students in subjects such as bioinformatics, public policy, and big data The university plans to add courses in law, communication and art. Its first batch of undergraduates will take recruitment exams in 2015.

Shiv Nadar University (SNU) is a private interdisciplinary University in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is part of a series of initiatives launched by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, a private foundation funded by Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of HCL Enterprise.Its stated aim is "to create an enduring, research-led, inter-disciplinary university at par with premiere education institutions worldwide". Education at the University is oriented towards participation in public institutions, commercial enterprises and organizations in civil society.

Other most important aspect of the university is its curriculum approach. It’s purely western. This new curriculum approach allow students to major in a particular subject while also studying and experimenting with a range of other minor and elective subjects. So while a student major in science can learn music as a minor. This allows every student with high SGPA to pick and choose a wide spectrum of subjects and some options even for average students.



Moreover, Shiv Nadar University follows a four year undergraduate programme such as US. About 1,000 students are accommodated in the 286-acre campus in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Abasyn University RAS AL KHAIMAH, (UAE): One more Pakistani University has started its operations in Ras Al Khaimah with a mission to provide good quality affordable education for Pakistani families living in UAE.
