Kuwait University invites applications

Kuwait city, (KUWAIT): Dean of Admission and Registration at Kuwait University, Dr. Subeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem announced that submitting applications electronically for the first semester of 2014/2015 for Kuwaiti students, children of Kuwaiti mothers, GCC citizens , and stateless students, who meet the requirements and are graduates of the unified system, Islamic institute, American and English system graduates, and expected graduates (for students in Kuwait) will start on Friday 4/7/2014 until Tuesday 15/7/2013, that is after completing monitoring the results of the academic aptitude tests which were held on June 28th.

Submitting applications for the admission process at KU will be via internet through the Deanship of Admission and Registration's website on the following address www.portal.ku.edu.kw/admission, noting that admission instructions, required documents and minimum percentages for instant admission are announced on the internet in addition to the admission guide issued by the Deanship and distributed to students, application submission will also be received in Shuwaikh for Kuwaiti students and children of Kuwaiti mothers who received their diploma’s from outside Kuwait, as well as non Kuwaiti students who are allowed to register in the time period specified according to the time line.

Distribution of accepted students for both semesters

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem indicated that according to the University, the minimum percentage for Kuwaiti students and children of Kuwaiti mothers are 70% or 2.50 for the scientific section graduates and 78% or 2.90 for the literary section graduates, clarifying that the University Council agreed to accept Kuwaiti students and children of Kuwaiti mothers who meet the requirements for the academic year of 2014/2015 distributed over the first and second semester. The minimum percentage for accepting students is 75% scientific sections and 80% literary sections. Any application below these percentages will not be accepted.

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem added that is an assigned period for transferred students from other universities and Public Authority for Applied Education and Training along with non enrolled students at KU for the summer semester of 2012/2013 in order to complete the admission procedures or transfer which will be on 11/5- 7/8/2014.

Students with special needs

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem stated that minimum percentages of admission for Kuwaiti students with special needs and foreign nationalities of children of Kuwaiti mothers who meet the required conditions, provided that they submit a certificate of disability from Ministry of Social Affairs as they should refer to Admission and Registration Hall during working hours to submit their applications for the first semester.

English High school students expected to graduate for the first semester

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem asserted that English high school students expected to graduate for the summer semester should refer to Admission Hall to submit their applications during the assigned dates and then submitting their results within 2 working days of receiving them in order to determine their specializations and complete registration procedures, stressing that the opportunity of admission regarding these students is equal to their colleagues who have submitted their applications during admission period.

The required documents and approving admission procedures

He asserted that after announcing the admission results, students should refer to Admission and Registration Hall at the allocated dates by the Deanship as SMS will be sent to students.

Students should bring the original high school certificate, the original Civil ID and a copy provided that the ID is still valid, the security card of stateless children of Kuwaiti mothers as well as a copy and the original of the birth certificate, the mother's nationality and the civil ID, in addition to a passport copy, a recent and colored photo and a salary transfer certificate for Kuwaiti students and children of Kuwaiti mothers to continue the procedures of dispersing social bonus after admission.

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem indicated that students should comply to the assigned dates or their applications will be cancelled, asserting that all guidelines, procedures and required documents are posted on the internet and within the admission guide issued by the Deanship and distributed to freshmen.

It is not allowed to enroll in more than one scientific institute

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem added that due to the increase in the output of high school students and in order to provide an opportunity for all graduates, therefore, the Deanship of Admission and Registration and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities agreed on the dates of submitting and announcing the results of acceptance, where the accepted students will be given a choice in any of the external or internal scholarships, the students should have an enrollment application to specify their choice before announcing the names of accepted students. Applications which do not have a specified choice of the area wished to enroll in will be excluded.

Hot lines for students services

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem stated that the Deanship for Admission and Registration set a number for students services in case of any inquiry which is 1866000, during the period from 3-21/7/2014, knowing that this service will be available 24 hours daily.

Instant admission of outstanding Kuwaiti students and stateless children of Kuwaiti mothers

He also announced that the University will continue to apply instant admission system of outstanding Kuwaiti students and stateless children of Kuwaiti mothers acquiring high percentages in high school certificates or its equivalent after submitting Academic Aptitude Tests, where they will be accepted once they submit their applications online according to the announced minimum percentages and they will immediately know the college they enrolled in without the need to wait for the first week of January to know the admission results.

Registration for courses of the first semester of 2014/2015 on allocated dates by the Deanship to approve their admission and receive the original certificates and required documents.



Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem concluded his statement by congratulating high school students and their families on their success, urging students to review the instructions, guidelines whether on the internet or the admission guide and comply to the allocated dates of submitting applications.
