The Donald and Eloise Bosch Centre for Performing Arts Another window to the music and theatre for students has been opened in Muscat with the inauguration of The Donald and Eloise Bosch Centre for Performing Arts at The American International School of Muscat (TAISM).   The Bosch Center for the Performing Arts includes over 4000 square meters of performance and audience space and seating for 522. The development of the school’s campus was designed to accommodate this spacious enhancement to the academic and activity programs. The multi-million dollar, state of the art centre will be used for training school students in music and theatre. IIT Bombay Alumni network Indian B-schools and Tech colleges are taking a leaf out of their global peers Harvard and Standford universities. It is commonly believed that India lags behind leading American universities in attracting alumni sponsorships. But now the storyline is changing. Recently, Technology entrepreneur Romesh Wadhwani pledged $5 million for a new bioscience and bioengineering research facility at his alma mater, IIT Bombay. Transit of Venus over the Sun Sharjah: The Physics Department at American University of Sharjah (AUS), in collaboration with Dubai Astronomy Group, will hold a public observation of a unique astronomical event that happens only twice every century. Astronomy enthusiasts and members of the public are invited to witness the transit of Venus over the face of the Sun on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., at the university’s Main Plaza. The last time the planet Venus passed over the face of the Sun was in June 2004, and the next time the event will happen is in December 2117. For this very rare event, AUS and Dubai Astronomy Group have organized a public viewing, even though it occurs very early in the day in this part of the world. UAE University new crescent building According to the QS World University Rankings, the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has placed in the top 50 world universities that were founded within the past 50 years, acknowledging the rapid pace of progress within both the United Arab Emirates and its national institution of higher education. Among the top universities established since 1962, UAEU ranks in position 48, between Aston University, UK, and Griffith University, Australia. Both these universities, and in fact, most other top world universities, were founded earlier than 1976, the year in which the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan established UAEU. University of Dubai Dubai: The University of Dubai (UD) is going to launch a new campus in Dubai. Majid Al Shamsi, Chairman, UD Board of Trustees, unveiled the new plan during the 10th graduation ceremony of the UD at Shaikh Rashid Hall in Dubai World Trade Center. Brand new state-of-the-art campus will be opened at the education capital of Duabi, Dubai International Academic City.  The design of the new campus is almost completed and it is expected to be fully ready by 2014. Construction for the first phase of the new facility will begin in December 2012.
