UAE University new crescent building |
Among the top universities established since 1962, UAEU ranks in position 48, between Aston University, UK, and Griffith University, Australia. Both these universities, and in fact, most other top world universities, were founded earlier than 1976, the year in which the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan established UAEU.
Within the Top 50 Under 50 rankings, only eight universities in the world that are younger than UAEU are ranked above UAEU, reflecting the very dynamic growth and ambition to strive for excellence of the institution.
The QS World University Rankings is a ranking of the world’s top 700 universities by Quacquarelli Symonds using a method that has published annually since 2004.
The rankings are designed to look at a broad range of university activity, and six indicators are used: Academic peer review (40%), Recruiter review (10%), Faculty student ratio (20%), Citations per faculty (20%), and International orientation (10%).
The average age of the top 200 universities from the 2011 QS World University Rankings was 187.3 years.
At only 36 years of age, UAEU is proud of the recognition by the QS World University Rankings, and intends to re-double its efforts to continue improving the preparation of young Emiratis for the workforce of tomorrow while at the same time infusing innovation into the Nation’s development plans with significant research initiatives.
