University of Dubai plans new campus

Dubai: The University of Dubai (UD) is going to launch a new campus in Dubai. Majid Al Shamsi, Chairman, UD Board of Trustees, unveiled the new plan during the 10th graduation ceremony of the UD at Shaikh Rashid Hall in Dubai World Trade Center. Brand new state-of-the-art campus will be opened at the education capital of Duabi, Dubai International Academic City. 



The design of the new campus is almost completed and it is expected to be fully ready by 2014. Construction for the first phase of the new facility will begin in December 2012. Majid Al Shamsi, Chairman, UD Board of Trustees, said that His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has granted a plot of land of 3 million square foot at the Academic City to establish a new campus for UD. 



Once completed, it will have buildings for the College of Business Administration, College of Information Technology, College of Law, General Education Department and a state-of-the-art library among other facilities. As part of the 10th graduation ceremony, Shaikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Information, distributed degrees to the new passed out graduate students. 


This academic year, UD will begin two new programs and it is an MBA programme and a new Master of Science degree with a concentration in Information Systems Management in September 2012. The university also has a proposal under review to offer a Master in Law (LLM) degree in September 2013 and will launch a PhD programme in Business Administration by September 2014. 

The university which was founded in 1997 by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds dual international accreditation of AACSB and ABET.

Second Pakistani University opens in UAE

Abasyn University RAS AL KHAIMAH, (UAE): One more Pakistani University has started its operations in Ras Al Khaimah with a mission to provide good quality affordable education for Pakistani families living in UAE. Name as “Abasyn University ”, the new educational platform will offer degree courses to the 800 to 1,000 pupils who comes out of Pakistani high schools in the UAE every year.
