RIYADH, (KUNA) -- The GCC ministers of higher education and
scientific research met here on Wednesday, with Kuwaiti Minister of Education
and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi attending.
In a keynote speech, Saudi Minister of Higher Education Khalid Al-Ankari boasted that GCC universities have achieved much success on both regional and international levels, which reflect the optimum investment of natural resources in the GCC member states.
He appreciated the integrated efforts of the GCC ministries of higher education in all mutual fields in order to serve the citizens of their countries.
He added that all recommendations made during recent intensive meetings would be in the interest of Gulf young people and would contribute to the promotion of output of educational and research institutions.
On his part, GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said all the GCC leaders are very interested in education especially in universities and higher education institutions out of their firm belief in the significance of education as the effective way to achieve comprehensive development.
He said research and opinion polls involving Gulf young people show that better higher education services represent a pressing request for youth.
To effectively develop the educational process in the Gulf region, it is necessary to ensure human development, to provide necessary knowledge, to focus on math, science and languages and to encourage research and studies, he added.
