GETEX Spring 2014 taking place from 09 – 11 April 2014

Dubai: GETEX Spring 2014 unveils 2500 educational programs serving UAE’s growing education market. First launched in 1983, the Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) has made its mark as the leading education and training event in the Middle East and an integral part of the industry itself. The event’s main objective is to provide students with a singular, focused platform where they can compare various study options available in the market.

Held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research GETEX has a large following both from educators and industry professionals as well as learners. It attracts participation from international schools and colleges from all over the world, alongside the best of education providers in the region. The 26th edition of the fair will provide a perfect gateway for over 30,000 Arab and expat students to connect with more than 400 exhibitors from around 40 countries and seek detailed information about over 2,500 featured educational programs from around the world.

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions (IC&E), commented on the relevance of the Exhibition within today’s education landscape, “While the UAE is fast emerging as a preferred destination for foreign education organizations and investors, the country’s education sector is poised for significant growth. Through GETEX, we want to reiterate our firm support to promote academic excellence in the country and the region by offering students a wide range of choices in academic programs and campuses. GETEX Spring 2014 will focus on key areas of education such as General Education, Higher Education, Vocational Education, Training and Professional Development, with the intent to deliver a well-rounded approach towards learning.

GETEX 2014 – Show Highlights
1.Inauguration: H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development will inaugurate GETEX 2014.

2.Counsellors Forum: For the second time, GETEX will be hosting its Counsellors Forum, which is very relevant to today’s education landscape and extremely well received by the student counsellor fraternity. The Counsellors Forum is a day-long Conference which will convene key student counsellors practicing in schools within UAE, and will address the challenges and pressures faced by students today, such as Adolescent Issues, Battling Bullying, Cyber Addiction, and the various Critical Thinking & Learning Styles pertinent to grooming the youth of today to becoming leaders of the future.

3.Seminars & Presentations: A regular feature of the show, these free-to-attend sessions are a tremendous information source for students. The topics are diverse and generic and prove invaluable for learners of all ages.

Some Industry facts and stats
The UAE has one of the fastest growing student populations heading towards higher education, in the world. In 2011-2012, private universities in Dubai alone recorded a 12% increase in student enrolment and UAE’s private education sector is the biggest in the region with an estimated value of AED 10.2 million. The student population in the GCC as a whole has experienced a steady growth as well, with a prediction to reach 11.3 million in 2020 compared to just 9.5 million in 2010. A whopping 24 per cent of total government expenditure is spent on the development of the UAE education sector which has an estimated market size of USD 7.3 billion.

With student populations consistently increasing year on year, coupled with immense public and private sector investments being made to overhaul the education landscape in the Middle East, GETEX aims to cater to this growing education market by providing a comprehensive arena where educators and learners can meet and be connected to each other.

Second Pakistani University opens in UAE

Abasyn University RAS AL KHAIMAH, (UAE): One more Pakistani University has started its operations in Ras Al Khaimah with a mission to provide good quality affordable education for Pakistani families living in UAE. Name as “Abasyn University ”, the new educational platform will offer degree courses to the 800 to 1,000 pupils who comes out of Pakistani high schools in the UAE every year. Previously Szabist University in Dubai was the only Pakistani university in the emirates. Abasyn’s Ras Al Khaimah centre is its overseas branch campus. AUS helps rebuild Iraq’s higher education
