SQU's tie- up with National Instrument Corporation

Muscat: As part of long-term plan to excel in the field of instrumentation, Sultan Qaboos University's(SQU) has started joint venture program with National Instruments Corporation (NI), a leading US-based company in instrumentation. With over 5,000 employees and has operations in 41 countries NI is a leading producer of automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software and headquartered in Austin, Texas. 

This tie-up is part of SQU's policy to build strong links with noted international academic and industrial organisations to strengthen its educational and research programs. 

At the beginning SQU's Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) Department has opened LabVIEW academy with the help of NI. SQU's Engineering and science graduates will use LabVIEW software, an advanced graphical development environment. LabVIEW software is used by several prominent universities and established industries to develop graphical user-friendly applications in engineering fields and measurement sciences. 

LabVIEW academy is a recently started joint venture between SQU and NI. This venture will help SQU's engineering and science students to test their knowledge on industrial applications. 

The LabVIEW Academy provides edge of hands-on lab training for SQU students to prepare them job ready in the industrial sector. NI will issue a Certificate of Completion for each student who passes LabVIEW Academy exam. Prof. Hadj Bourdoucen of the ECE Department of SQU is responsible for NI LabVIEW Academy.

Takatuf scholarships announced

Muscat: Takatuf Oman announced 24 International scholarships for 2013. These 24 students were selected from the 60 who successfully completed the Takatuf Scholars Summer Residential Programme. Selected students will be sent to join leading international educational institutions for the 2014-15 academic year.
