SQU to strengthen ties with US college



The delegation consisted of Chester Jones, Chairman of the Board, SLEHS, David J Fine, President and Chief Executive Officer, and two other senior officials. Dr. Said bin Ali al Yahyaee, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service, Dr. Hilal al Sabti, Deputy Director General of SQU Hospital for Medical Affairs, and other SQU officials received the St. Luke's delegation. 

The delegation discussed collaboration between SLEHS and SQU, according to a press release. Exchange of technicians and nurses is currently in place between the two institutes.

They agreed to extend the scope of exchanges to faculty members at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences at SQU and clinical scientists in SQU Hospital and the college.

Exchange of technicians will be extended to cardiac care, cardiac computed tomography, operating room technology and other units. They also agreed on enhancing research collaboration in different medical and clinical areas including radiology, neuroscience, and other medical specialisations. Later Dr. David Fine gave lecture on health system reform at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. 

The hospital is credited with hosting with hosting the first successful heart transplantation, the first artificial heart in 2002, 2004, and 2005, St. Luke's was named to FORTUNE Magazine's list for "100 Best Companies to work for". Since its opening, St. Luke's has received numerous awards for its medical accomplishments. St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital serves as the lead hospital for St. Luke's Episcopal Health System, and is based at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. 

St. Luke's Episcopal Health System also includes St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities, St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital, St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital, St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital at The Vintage and St. Luke's Patients Medical Center. The hospital is also affiliated with the Texas Heart Institute.

Second Pakistani University opens in UAE

Abasyn University RAS AL KHAIMAH, (UAE): One more Pakistani University has started its operations in Ras Al Khaimah with a mission to provide good quality affordable education for Pakistani families living in UAE. Name as “Abasyn University ”, the new educational platform will offer degree courses to the 800 to 1,000 pupils who comes out of Pakistani high schools in the UAE every year. Previously Szabist University in Dubai was the only Pakistani university in the emirates. Abasyn’s Ras Al Khaimah centre is its overseas branch campus. As a famed brand in Pakistan, the Abasyn University has campuses in Peshawar and Islamabad. Abasyn University is considered to be more affordable as it charges only Dh1,200 a month. This makes it more affordable than Szabist which charges Dh1,900, and Abasyn is significantly cheaper than other institutions. On average, university fees in the UAE start at about Dh25,000 a year.
